Milk Kefir Recipe

Requisites:

  1. a colander or sieve
  2. a glass jar with a capacity of 1 liter
  3. a breathable cloth, cheesecloth, or coffee filter
  4. a rubber band
  5. a plastic or wooden spoon (optional)
  6. 15 cl fresh milk (up to 25 cl milk)
  7. 15 grams of milk kefir grains

Method :

STEP 1 : Put the kefir grains in a sieve and rinse briefly with milk or chloor free water (rinse the grains certainly if you have just received the grains).

STEP 2 : Put the kefir grains in a glass jar. Ratio: about 15 grams of milk kefir grains to 150 ml of milk.

STEP 3 : Cover the pot with a breathable cloth and seal it with a rubber band. Place the pot in a quiet corner at room temperature.

STEP 4 : After 18 to 24 hours, the kefir is ready, the drink has become thicker.

STEP 5 : Place a colander or sieve over a mixing bowl. Pour the contents of the glass jar (grains & amp; beverage) empty into the colander, the kefir leaking through the colander. In order to speed up the process of the leak, you may squeeze the kefir grains with a wooden scoop or by hand. The resulting beverage, in the mixing bowl, is ready to drink. You may first cool down your drink in the refrigerator.

Some tips :Rinse the grains with milk or bottled water, beware tap water because it contains chlorine, chlorine can be harmful to your kefir grains. Avoid using detergents when cleaning all used materials. Wash your hands before you start. Avoid the kefir grains to come into contact with metal. The specified ratio is 1 to 10, so you can create proportionally larger or smaller batches.


Water Kefir Recipe

Requisites : 

  1. a colander or sieve
  2. a glass jar with a capacity of 1 liter
  3. a breathable cloth, cheesecloth or coffee filter
  4. a rubber band
  5. a wooden spoon (optional)
  6. funnel for filling (optional)
  7. storage container (optional)
  8. 20 grams of water kefir grains
  9. water (spring water, hard water is preferred)
  10. sugar (cane sugar is preferably)
  11. raisins or apricots, dates or other dried fruit can be used
  12. a lemon with or without skin (preferably organic lemon or lemon juice)

Method :

 STEP 1:  Dissolve 10 grams of sugar in a small amount of warm water 20cl. The sugar can be solved more easily in hot water. Leave to cool to room temperature.

 STEP 2: Add the water kefir grains in a jar.

 STEP 3: Pour the sugar solution from Step 1 into the jar and stir lightly.

 STEP 4:You may add dried fruit, but you better don't put dried food if you just have received by kefir grains mail, they need time to adapt.

 STEP 5: Cover the jar with a breathable cloth and place the pot in a quiet place (at room temperature, out of direct sunlight). You may stir after 24 hours.

 STEP 6: After about 48 hours, the first fermentation is finished. Pour the contents of the jar (grains & amp; beverage) empty into the colander, the kefir is leaking through the colander. The resulting beverage in the bowl is the Water kefir, ready to drink. You may cool down the drink in the fridge or continue to ferment in a bottle.START back at step 1
