A funnel can be very useful for bottling kombucha, water kefir or any liquid fermented drink. With a good funnel, you can easily transfer the finished drink (such as water kefir, kombucha) from the bowl to a bottle. Many people do a second fermentation, then a funnel is most suitable for pouring the drink into bottles. Although you can certainly do without a funnel, you will spill faster without a funnel. So do yourself a favor and invest in a good funnel. Some of the better funnels also have a strainer. The sieve in the funnel can be useful to collect residual sediment or to separate the water kefir grains directly from the drink, which saves an operation.
